My name is Martín de la Puente Riobó, I was born in 1999 and I am a professional wheelchair tennis player. When I was a child I was diagnosed with a rare disease, Proteus Syndrome, which meant having to undergo sixteen severe surgeries, one of them being the amputation of my left foot. All this did not stop me, neither in my life nor in my passion for sport.
In 2016, my professional sports career began. I have been a three-time junior world champion, world number 1 in doubles in 2022, number 3 in the singles world ranking, Grand Slam champion (US Open), Wimbledon finalist, Paralympic Diploma at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games, leading the Spanish national team, we achieved three runner-up positions (2021, 2022 and 2024) in the World Cup for national teams. At the national level, 7 times Spanish Champion and number 1 in the national ranking for several years.
I combine sports practice with my university studies, finishing this year the Degree in Business Administration.
I believe that effort, confidence and work lead us to overcome challenges that seem impossible. Through pep talks and conferences I try to transmit this spirit of overcoming obstacles with enthusiasm and optimism.
On this page I present my life and achievements. I hope you like it!
